Howdy, fellow bloggers.
Here in internet auction-land, things can get pretty weird. There's all kinds of crazy things selling on auction sites that you wouldn't think would ever sell, or be legal to sell. Such as your virginity.

I dabble in Economics, so I it was rather interesting to quantify and monetize parts of peoples' lives and experiences. Interesting, and creepy.
We finally have a way to find the maximum global price that any product or idea would go for, and we use it for prostitution? As I've said, interesting and creepy.

Mind = Blown. Its hard to comment on this because I agree with you 100%. The online world has made a lot of things possible like prostitution. Selling services aside, I believe the online market has opened up a whole new way to get the best deal for the consumer along with a little global competition for the seller.
It is amazing to me how such auctions could take place. Either people have no morals or they are desperate Everyone is entitled to do whatever they please with their bodies and lives but i just can't seem to understand why anyone would auction their virginity.

It just amazes me that you literally can buy ANYTHING on the internet... There was an article in the Wall Street Journal about creating a market for exchanging organs online; "Cash for Kidneys". Seems a little unsafe to me.
Sounds like Craigslist! I'm only kidding...I think should be a way to place restrictions on what is offered on an auction site (I don't spend much time on these sites, they might already be in place!)
I cannot believe that this actually happened, and that she flew to another country to lose her virginity. I wonder if the purchaser paid with a credit card....
That is very creepy and should be illegal.
I was very surprised this auction was legal. I imagine it must have taken place in an area with legal prostitution. The girl from this article is quoted as saying "just because this is done once does not make me a prostitute" although she may not officially be a prostitute I believe it is safe to say this is an act of prostitution and I do not think this should be legal. I think that there should be restrictions set in place in order for auctions like this to be disallowed.
Majed and Samuel, I believe it was in fact illegal as an act, which is why they used a bunch of legal loopholes to carry out the "transaction". There was an arrangement to meet while on a plane over international waters that somehow avoided the illegality of the act.
